Fooled by Randomness by Nassim Nicholas Taleb

In this book the financial mathematician and randomness researcher describes in an entertaining way the role of chance in the stock markets and in our lives. He reveals how in many situations, humans mistakenly confuse chance with strategy and skill, and often draw fatal fallacies from this. It is in the nature of man to look for connections in the past. The role of chance is largely neglected, since in reality only one state of an infinite selection of possible states manifests itself. To shed light on this fact, Taleb uses Monte Carlo simulations, which make it possible to simulate alternative future scenarios on the basis of probability distributions. Taleb applies these findings not only to investing in the stock market, but also other areas of life.
